As such, we have called upon her expertise to see what she will be looking for within this years entries.
Here’s what she had to say…
Q: What kind of prestige, influence and professional recognition do you think comes with winning an award?
A: To win an award has huge advantages, it means your company receives industry recognition, you’re able to use the award in marketing and PR campaigns, it’s a great boost for your staff and raises your profile with clients, Architects, & Designers who then build trust in your company.
Q: What tips would you give to entrants to give themselves a great chance of being shortlisted?
A: For the CI entrants, build a story around your project, explain the client brief and budget, show a series of before and after images that have been professionally photographed of all stages of the build, describe the challenges and how you overcame them, list equipment including an image of a fully dressed rack, provide detailed plans, drawings.
For trade, look at how your product or an individual (if applying for Sales Person award) stands out from the crowd, do you market your products or is an individual known within the industry for judges to research and ask CI companies to support your nomination with finished photography of their project where your brand has been used.
Q: Which categories do you think are particularly important this year and why?
A: Best whole house project is an important category as this should showcase most of the work the CI industry provides within one build. It also shows the level of work your company carry out.
Q: Do you think the profession always gets the recognition it deserves?
A: The profession is recognised within the industry with awards such as CEDIA and Smart Building Awards but there’s still work to be done marketing industry achievements on a day to day basis to the general public and industries such as Architects and Interior designers.
